Speaking with your doctor or health professional
Once you have decided to save your baby's cord blood it is important to discuss this decision with the health professional who will be delivering your baby, such as your obstetrician or midwife.
You should check that your doctor or midwife agrees to collect the cord blood at the time your baby is delivered. Both you and your doctor or midwife need to sign the Consent to Collect section of the Cord Blood Storage Agreement before sending the completed form to Cryosite.
As cord blood collection has become more commonplace and is accepted as a normal part of the birthing process, most obstetricians and midwives are already familiar with the collection process. If your healthcare professional is unfamiliar with the collection process you can direct them to this website for further information, or they can call 1800 220 410 to discuss any queries they may have. Cryosite can provide them with training videos and instruction on use of the collection kit if required.
If your Doctor or midwife does not consent to collect your child’s cord blood please call Cryosite on 1800 220 410.
